These Student Terms set out the agreement between you and Bethel School of Biblical Studies (“BIBS”, “we”, “us”), a registered charity (charity number 1179314) and company limited by guarantee (company number 11223226), when you apply for and study one of our courses. Please read them alongside our Privacy Policy, Terms of Service, AI Academic Integrity Policy and Plagiarism & Authenticity Policy.
1. Applying and your place
You apply for a course by completing our application form. A place is confirmed once we have accepted your application and you have made the required donation payment (see section 3). Places are limited and are offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Some courses may require a short conversation or interview as part of admission.
2. Course donation
Students make a course donation to BIBS in support of their studies. The current donations are:
- One-Year Foundation Course – £445
- Two-Year Certificate Course – £1,090
Your donation covers your teaching, tuition and course materials at BIBS. It does not include the external accreditation fee described in section 4.
3. Paying your donation
Donations may be paid in instalments: 50% is required upon application, and the remaining 50% is required before the start of the course. We will let you know the accepted methods of payment when you apply.
4. External accreditation fee
Our courses are accredited by AIM Qualifications and Assessment Group. If you wish the work you undertake to be formally recognised, a separate administration fee is payable to the external accrediting body. This applies to the Two-Year Certificate Course. It is an additional cost, over and above your BIBS donation, and is paid to, and set by, the accrediting body. Accreditation fees paid to the external accrediting body are non-refundable.
5. Your right to cancel (cooling-off period)
If you are a consumer and you signed up online or otherwise at a distance, you have a legal right to cancel within 14 days of your place being confirmed, under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013. To cancel within this period, please contact us in writing at information@bibsuk.org. If you cancel within the 14-day period and your course has not yet started, you are entitled to a full refund of any donation paid.
If you ask us, and agree, for your course to begin within the 14-day cancellation period, you may be charged for the proportion of the course already provided up to the point you cancel. Once a course has been fully provided within that period at your request, the right to cancel is lost.
6. Refunds and leaving a course
Except where the statutory cancellation right in section 5 applies, donations paid to BIBS are non-refundable. As a general rule we do not allow students to change courses unless their circumstances are extenuating, as we would not then be in a position to offer the place to someone else. A student who chooses to leave a course before completion remains obligated to make the full donation for the entire course, save where the statutory cancellation right applies.
If you experience genuine hardship or exceptional circumstances, please contact us – we will always seek to deal with such situations pastorally and fairly.
7. What we will provide
We will deliver your course with reasonable care and skill, by anointed and qualified teachers, in line with the course outline. Lessons are delivered online (via Zoom), with course materials, submissions and the discussion forum hosted on our Student Learning Portal (Moodle). Occasionally we may need to change timetabling, teaching staff or delivery arrangements; where we do, we will give you as much notice as we reasonably can.
8. Your responsibilities as a student
As a student you agree to: engage prayerfully and honestly with your studies; submit work that is your own original expression, in line with our AI Academic Integrity Policy and Plagiarism & Authenticity Policy; treat teachers, staff and fellow students with respect; and have the equipment and internet access needed to take part online.
9. Your data
We handle your personal data in accordance with our Privacy Policy, which explains the legal basis on which we process it – including information that may reveal your religious beliefs.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these Student Terms from time to time. Where changes affect a course you are already enrolled on, we will let you know.
11. Statutory rights and governing law
Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and are subject to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
